Recruiting now for Accommodation Support Workers for GPSO’s brand new Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) houses in Yoogali. Training will commence from August, with shifts commencing in September 2021.
The homes have been skill fully designed to contain innovative technology, assistive equipment, and open living spaces to create a safe and empowering home for people with a disability.
ABOUT THE ROLES:
The primary objective of this position is to deliver a variety of services to Resident’s to support them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life in the community. You will provide assistance with all aspects of daily living including meals, personal care, domestic activities, social and community participation and varying skill development activities. This is a hands-on role, suitable for active individuals who can perform manual handling duties.
GPSO accommodation facilities operate seven days a week. A typical roster will consist of a mixture of early morning, day time, evening and active sleepover shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Essential requirements include:
- 12 months hands on relevant industry experience
- A current Senior First Aid, CPR and Anaphylaxis Certificate
- Working with Children Check (currency within 6 months)
- NDIS worker screening
- Fit and healthy and meet the inherent requirements as described in the position description
- Current Drivers’ License and own reliable transport.
A Certificate III in Individual Support – Disability is desirable, but not essential.
Successful applicants will also possess and demonstrate relevant experience, and have an ability to follow procedures, good organisational skills and transferable life and work skills along with a caring and compassionate approach.
You will demonstrate excellent verbal and written English skills and possess the ability to effectively interact with clients and their Carers’, internal and external stakeholders. GPSO support workers are team players who can work effectively with people from different backgrounds.
