We’re looking for staff to work in either of our locations, Leeton or Griffith.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the lives of our Participants. GPSO offer 24/7 services to our Participants including day programs, personal care, community access, short-term accommodation (respite) and long term supported accommodation. We are seeking candidates with flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends and overnight.

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Assisting Participants with daily living tasks and independent skills

• Provide assistance with personal care, personal hygiene, administration of medication, meal preparation, mobility and transport

• Encourage and prompt independence in all aspects of daily living

• Contribute to the development and implementation of individual support plans

• Document services delivered, incidents and report

• Effectively interact with Participants and promote social interaction

Essential requirements include:

• Compassion and genuine desire to support individuals with disabilities

• Solid verbal and written English skills

• Ability to use technology, such as smart phones and computers

• Awareness of health and safety issues e.g. hazards and risk

• First Aid and CPR Certificate

• Working with Children Check

• NDIS worker screening

• NDIS Worker Orientation Module “Quality, Safety and You”

• Current Drivers’ License and own reliable transport

• Fit and healthy and meet the inherent requirements as described in the position description

Desirable:

• A Certificate III in Individual Support

• Minimum 6 months industry experience

Other requirements:

• May be required to complete a National Police Check

• Pre-employment functional assessment (including drug and alcohol screening)

• Ability to be flexible with work hours

• Possess a phone with availability to receive and make calls, access data and send texts

• Possess a private vehicle that may be used for work purposes
