What is Supported Independent Living (SIL)?

SIL is help with and 24-hour supervision of daily tasks in a shared living environment, with a focus on developing independence. SIL refers to the paid personal supports and is commonly used in shared living arrangements. It includes things like having a person help with personal care tasks, cooking meals or washing clothes. SIL can help you build on skills to become more independent.

GPSO aim to work together with the Participant and their family and carers to ensure your choices are respected and you live in a comfortable house with compatible housemates.

GPSO has included innovative technology and assistive equipment in each house to aid in increasing the Participant’s independent living.

Who is Supported Accommodation for?

Our supported accommodation is a great opportunity for adults with complex disabilities or those wanting to access supported living in their daily lives. GPSO’s SIL services cater to those who require full-time support, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Am I eligible for SIL?

As an eligible NDIS Participant, you will meet with a NDIS Planner to discuss your current situation and supports. You will need to explain to your Planner why SIL funding is reasonable and necessary and have supporting evidence to justify this e.g. allied health reports.

Contact your NDIS Planner or Support Coordinator for further assistance on gaining SIL funding in your next NDIS plan.
